At the beginning of May, students in Years 7 through 10 were given design challenges to tackle. They planned and collaborated within their tutor groups to produce creative and functional products to test last Friday at our SPIP Science Carnival. Year 7s built cardboard airplanes that aimed for the longest distance covered. Year 8s made cars from recycled materials that moved as air was released from an attached balloon. Year 9s tackled the Egg Drop competition, and Year 10s worked on making their wind turbines more efficient. Finally, Year 12 students, who recently returned from their external exams, were surprised with a mystery challenge on the day: to build a 1-meter bridge out of paper from exam booklets to hold as much added mass as possible!

Congratulations to the winners!
