On Friday, 6th June during assembly period, SPIP held the Zero Waste Debate with teams from Erawan, Makara, Yaksha, and Singha houses discussing an important question: Does relying on AI and automated systems for waste reduction make people less responsible for sustainable habits?

This topic of the debate is especially crucial now, as AI rapidly transforms industries and daily life. With climate change accelerating, we must consider whether AI is part of the solution or if overreliance on it could create new environmental risks. Therefore, finding the right balance between technological advancements and sustainable action will define our future.

All teams presented thoughtful arguments and handled rebuttals impressively. The judges had a tough decision, with only 4 points difference between the first and the fourth place, but here are the final rankings:

1st place: Erawan
2nd place: Makara
3rd place: Yaksha
4th place: Singha

At the end of the day, everyone’s a winner. You’ve all shown great critical thinking, teamwork, and passion for sustainability in the age of AI. Whether you took home a trophy or not, you’ve contributed to this important conversation in a meaningful way.

A big thank you to our judges, organizers, representatives from each house, and the lively audience. Let’s keep working together to make our school – and our planet – greener.

Well done everyone
