The student cultural exchange program between Thai and Japanese students has officially resumed this year, taking place from December 5 to 13, 2025. A group of 14 students from the SPIP International Program and two students from the Thai Mathematics program, along with two teachers, will engage in a cultural exchange at Meikei High School in Tsukuba, Japan.
During this period, students will participate in a variety of activities, including cultural workshops and presentations, where they will have the chance to showcase their own work and learn from their Japanese peers. Meikei High School is renowned for its strong emphasis on science and research, providing students with an exceptional opportunity to explore scientific knowledge while deepening their understanding of Japanese culture.
In addition to these academic activities, the Thai students will also have the unique opportunity to live with Japanese host families. This experience will allow them to immerse themselves in the daily life and traditions of Japan, gaining insights into how Japanese families live, eat, and interact. This aspect of the program is particularly valuable in fostering cross-cultural understanding and encouraging the development of intercultural communication skills.
The warm welcome and friendly smiles from the Japanese students at Meikei High School have already made a significant impression, setting a positive tone for the exchange. This year, the students are excited to not only learn about the culture but also form meaningful, lasting connections with their Japanese peers. This exchange is not just about academic growth; it is about personal development, as students broaden their worldviews and increase their global awareness.
Furthermore, the opportunity for students from the Thai International Program and Meikei students to collaborate on this exchange enhances their practical skills, boosting both their academic and personal growth. The program promises to be an enriching experience, fostering mutual respect, broadening perspectives, and helping students develop intercultural competence in an increasingly globalized world.
By the end of this exchange, participants will have gained more than just academic knowledge—they will have developed deeper intercultural empathy, communication skills, and an understanding of the rich cultural traditions that make Japan unique. This program is truly an invaluable experience, and we are confident that it will open new doors for our students, enhancing their personal growth and global awareness for years to come.
Wouldn’t you agree that such exchanges are an exciting way to prepare students for the interconnected world ahead?
