Club Description

The Trading Card Strategy & Design Club provides students with an opportunity to explore a variety of trading card games (TCGs), combining academic learning with fun and interactive gameplay. Each month, a new trading card game will be introduced. Students will spend multiple sessions learning game mechanics, practicing strategic play, and analyzing game design elements such as balance, resource management, and probability.

The club will focus on both physical and digital formats depending on accessibility and student interest. Games may include titles such as Pokémon TCG Pocket, Magic: The Gathering Arena, and others.

This club provides a strong academic component through applied mathematics, strategic thinking, critical analysis, and communication skills. It fully aligns with the school’s expectation for academic development and measurable outcomes.

Academic Development Goals:
Develop critical thinking and strategic reasoning skills.
Apply mathematical concepts such as probability, ratios, statistics, and resource allocation.
Build comprehension of complex rule systems and improve cognitive flexibility.
Introduce basic principles of game design, fairness, and balance.

Structure & Schedule:
Club meets once per week.
Each month highlights a new trading card game.

Sessions include:
Introduction to game rules and mechanics.
Guided play sessions.
Group discussions on strategy, decision-making, and design analysis.

Measurable Outcomes:

Students will demonstrate rule comprehension and strategic application through active gameplay.
At the end of each month, students will participate in a friendly tournament to showcase their mastery of the month’s featured game.
Brief post-tournament group discussions will allow students to reflect on strategies used, decisions made, and lessons learned.
